Kincardine United Church is governed by a Church Council which acts according to the policies of the United Church of Canada and The United Church Manual.  The Council enacts church policies, programmes and activities.  All Committees, programmes, Ministry Teams and sponsored groups that are part of Kincardine United Church are accountable to the Council.  Groups that use space at the Church but are not part of the programmes of the Church enter into agreements with the Church with respect to the use of our facilities and these agreements are administered by the Administration Committee.  The specific organization and duties of Council can be found in the Kincardine United Church Organizational Structure Report.

The Church Council consists of the President and Secretary, who are elected directly by the congregation for a two-year term at the annual meeting, the Chairs of the three Standing Committees, who are nominated from among the elected members of their Committees, and the Ministry Personnel of the Church. As required by The Manual, there is also a Ministry and Personnel Committee, which acts independently, and reports to Council quarterly and a Board of Trustees that is accountable through the Administration Committee to carry out trustee duties as defined in The Manual.  Council meets regularly and receives reports and recommendations from the Standing Committees and from Ministry and Personnel and the Trustees as required..  Council Meetings are open to all members of the congregation, unless a specific agenda item involves confidential personnel matters.
