Restorative Yoga is a passive practice to slow down the nervous system, by dropping you into a deep state of rest, relaxation and rejuvenation, with the use of props.  The idea is to experience a deep release, as many of us are in a heightened state of stress as we move from task to task, research shows disease occurs when we stay in a heightened state of stress.  This is a preventative measure with many benefits ex. lowers blood pressure, autoimmune disorders, digestion improves, sleep improves, etc. Being in the restful poses, we shift the nervous system to the rest and digest, this is where the body can heal and restore.  This is a practice anyone can do at anytime in life, as long as they can get down on the floor (a chair can be used to assist) This can be done when your energy level is very low, like in grief or major transition, even if you have injured your body.
